"Squankum" is the Anglicized spelling of the pre-colonial name given by the local Lenni Lenape Native American tribe to the area now known as Williamstown in Monroe Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. The word Squankum roughly translates as "place of evil ghosts" or "place where evil spirits dwell." It is unknown whether this "evil" referred to the restless spirits of young males from local tribes who died wandering in the wilderness, eternally searching for their vision quest rites of passage into adulthood, or is merely an allusion to the area's abundant mosquito population. Whatever the reason, as SPRT's founding members and almost all of its investigators grew up in the Williamstown area, the name is an homage to the area's historical roots.
The primary function of the Squankum Paranormal Research Team is to investigate any and all claims of paranormal activity with great respect, care, professionalism, and discretion in a purely scientific manner. Speaking directly to your concerns, putting you at ease, and respecting your privacy are our highest priorities. All of our investigations are free of charge.
We do not publish or share personal information regarding cases or clients with anyone outside of SPRT without client permission. With expressed permission of the clients and property owner(s), audio and video recording devices are often used for the purpose of gathering evidence to aid SPRT in investigations. Media recordings collected in investigations are not shared outside of SPRT without the expressed written consent of clients and property owner(s). Upon request or special designation, cases requiring additional levels of discretion may be investigated solely by the co-founders of SPRT.
Our members have decades of combined experience in investigating the paranormal. As a client, our foremost concern for you is your safety and comfort, both in your interactions with us and any paranormal or otherwise unexplained experiences which may occur during the course of an investigation. During the full course of a case, we may do any or all of the following:
We may gather case details from you in addition to any relevant information regarding the history of the property and/or surrounding areas.
An investigation should not be considered a cure-all. If you as our client should continue to experience issues, we make ourselves available to you for follow-up investigations and counseling to aid you with any questions or concerns that may arise. As a thank you from us, you as the client are also welcome to digital copies whenever possible of media recordings or evidence we collect during the course of your case.
SPRT does not charge fees, and takes care of its own costs, though we do accept any funds you desire to give to support SPRT. We conduct investigations as a free service, not only to comfort you regarding any experiences you may have within the boundaries of your home or property, but also to gather information that may better support both emerging and existing theories of the paranormal.

- As scientifically-minded skeptics and pragmatists, we make every attempt to explain occurrences in terms of natural phenomena. Whenever possible, we attempt to recreate mundane conditions during investigations with the purpose of replicating, and possibly explaining, previously unexplained phenomena. This "debunking" process is used to find real-world explanations for occurrences that may be suspected as paranormal.
- The reported activities that cannot be debunked are then investigated in greater detail to determine their causes, if such causes are determinable. When they are not determinable by natural or conventional means, we may consider speculative areas of prevalent theory in parapsychology.
- After concluding audio and video investigations at a location, SPRT gathers a group of its own members at a separate date and location to review all media recordings.
- Finally, we gladly send several members of our crew as presenters to review the findings, if any, with you the client and draw conclusions together whenever possible.
